WHEN: April 11th – April 13th, 2017

THE LAUDERHILL POLICE DEPARTMENT’S ACCREDITATION TEAM INVITES THE PUBLIC TO COMMENT ABOUT THE LAUDERHILL POLICE DEPARTMENT.
A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA)
will arrive April 11th, 2017 to examine all aspects of the Lauderhill Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The assessors will remain on site until April 13, 2017 completing an extensive review of the accreditation files for the Lauderhill Police Department.
The Lauderhill Police Department must comply with approximately 256 standards in order to receive accredited status. Many of the 260 standards are critical to life, health, and safety issues. As part of the On-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. Copies of the standards are available through the Lauderhill Police Department’s Accreditation Unit at 954-714-4814.
For more information regarding CFA or for persons wishing to offer written comments about the Lauderhill Police Department’s ability to meet the standards of accreditation, please write: CFA, PO Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida 32302.
The Accreditation Manager for the Lauderhill Police Department is Officer Willie Londono. The assessment team is comprised of law enforcement practitioners from police agencies outside the South Florida area. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit offices where compliance can be witnessed. The CFA Assessment Team Leader is Master Police Officer Eric S. Wels from Altamonte Springs Police Department. Other team members are Captain Burt Himmer of the Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Investigations and Forensic Services and Officer Erika Hasson of The University of South Florida, St. Petersburg Police Department.
Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they report back to the CFA Commission, which will then determine if the agency is to receive re-accredited status. Lauderhill Police Department’s re-accreditation status is for three years. Verification by the team that the Lauderhill Police Department meets the Commission’s standards is part of a voluntary process to gain or maintain re-accreditation which is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement excellence.
For any comments, suggestions or concerns please contact Officer Willie Londono 954-714-4814.
