Starting in 2009, the City of Lauderhill purchased a number of properties throughout the city, using federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant funds. The City transferred these properties to the Lauderhill Housing Authority. The Housing Authority is now managing the sale and rental of these townhouses, condos and single family homes. These properties are advertised by Housing Authority Realtors and marketed to income-qualified buyers.
The Housing Authority also invests in new construction of single family homes. These homes are located in well-established neighborhoods with nearby amenities, and are excellent opportunities for buyers to purchase a new home at an affordable price.
The Lauderhill Housing Authority lease-to-own program allows tenants to apply a portion of their lease payments toward the down payment to purchase properties owned by the Housing Authority. These tenants are required to attend home and credit counseling and financial literacy training.
