NEWS FROM COMMISSIONER HOLNESS

In continuation with our 441 Development Plan, I have provided a synopsis of some of the participants in regards to what they are doing, the economic impact, job opportunities created, timeline for completion and contact name and information.

The Lauderhill City Center project proposes to create an urban, mixed-use development consisting of  residential, retail and office components. Currently, the 46-acre site is home to approximately 700,000 square feet of retail/commercial  space that is housed in the Lauderhill Mall and a few out-parcel buildings. The Lauderhill City Center project will have a significant positive impact on the local and regional economy. The creation of new jobs from businesses located within the project as well as jobs created elsewhere as a direct result of the new businesses located in the project will generate an estimated $270 million in additional personal income to the City and region. An additional 1,500 jobs can be expected to be created throughout the City and region as a result of the new businesses in the Lauderhill City Center. In addition to the 1,900 permanent jobs created, the project is expected to create a total of about 4,900 construction jobs throughout the life of the project. The proposed phasing of the project is based on two generations of development, consisting of three total phases. The actual timing of development will directly relate to market conditions. The completion date for phase three, which is the total buildout of the project, is projected to be 25 years after development approval (2033). Please feel free to contact Alan R.
