NEWS FROM COMMISSIONER BATES

Top of the Hill—Lauderhill! HAPPY
BIRTHDAY TO OUR CITY (50 Years Old)!!!! Maybe some of you
remember how it was in the beginning of the City. We are now
into our “Renaissance / Rebirth”. I hope that you were able to
attend some of the celebrations that took place. Our New City
Hall will be completed by the end of 2009; 56th Avenue
is almost completed; and our planned Eastside Library and
Cultural Center are in the design stage with hopefully a
completion date of 2011. Thanks to your vote of confidence in
this commission, we are getting done what you wanted. I hope we
are meeting your expectations and pride in what you see
happening. Let us hear from you.
It’s summertime and the living is not so easy! Our economy is in
a slow recovery stage, and we are all looking for ways to cut
our budgets so that we can survive. With the reduction in our
property values, we must some how maintain our properties so
that when the market recovers, our properties will be in the
marketable stage. Please help us maintain our property values
and help our neighbors do the same as much as we can. Fix-up,
clean-up, paintup and landscape-up helps a great deal and some
landscaping and paint-up materials are at good prices now.
The good news is that our city projects are in full swing and
some are nearing completion. These changes will sustain and
maintain our quality of life and secure our future, not only for
ourselves, but for our children.
