  • WHAT IS CDBG?
The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) is a federal program that began operation in 1975. It is run by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

  • WHO GETS THIS MONEY?
Every year, each city with more than 50,000 people and each county over 200,000 in population get CDBG money automatically. They are called, "entitlement jurisdictions". The amount each receives is set by a formula.

    • decent housing
    • a suitable living environment
    • expanding economic opportunities

all "principally for persons of low and moderate income"

  • WHAT CAN CDBG BE USED FOR?
CDBG can be used for just about anything a public official or developer wants or that you want. Here is a partial list of "eligible activities".
    • Housing rehabilitation
