Sign Regulations for Businesses
A brief guide to the
requirements of Schedule I of the Lauderhill Land Development Regulations,
which governs the placement of signs in the City of Lauderhill.
Sec. 1.5 (a) (1) Exemptions from sign rules
(NO PERMITS REQUIRED)

Paper window, painted window,
special sale signs if they cover 30% or less of any single window area.

Signs announcing events sponsored
by City of Lauderhill

Two (2) flags or pennants per
temporary office
-
Four (4) national, state, or city
flags. Not pawn shop symbol or other flags
-
Real estate signs. However, in
residential zones, signs may not be larger than 4 square feet (2’ x 2’). In
commercial zones, signs may not be larger than 32 square feet (4’ x 8’ – size
of one plywood board)
Sec. 1.10 Regulations governing
signs generally
(NO PERMITS REQUIRED)

Not to be attached to trees,
shrubs, utility poles, bus benches, etc.

Not to have spinning or strings of
spinning devices

Not to be allowed to fall into
disrepair. Kept in good condition, neat appearance, and good state of repair

ALL SIGNS except those
specifically exempted in Sec. 1.5 (above) shall have the SIGN PERMIT issued by
the City affixed to the sign
Sec. 1.11 Prohibited signs
(Not allowed with or without permit)

Painted signs on wall, except in
C-4 and I-1 districts

Sidewalk or sandwich signs
-
Bare bulb signs
-
Signs projecting in excess of 18
inches from the structure to which they are constructed

Roof and pole signs
-
Balloon signs except by special
permit for grand openings only
Sec.1.12 Temporary signs
(PERMITS REQUIRED)
Grand opening banner or pennant signs. May be displayed once during the first
year of business for a period of not more than sixty (60) days. Must include the
words “Grand Opening”. Special event banner signs. Permit required from
Finance Department. No more than one sign at a time per business. No sign may be
up for more than 10 days per permit. No more than six permits per year.
