My child is interested in playing sports
after school. What programs does the City have available?
The West Broward Optimist Club and the Parks and Leisure Services Department
both sponsor sports programs. Your child can join flag and tackle football,
soccer, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, inline hockey, swim team, and
track and field.
What about other types of activities for children?
The Parks and Leisure Services Department offers Art, Dance and Drama
Classes, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, swim lessons, golf lessons, School’s Out
Programs (on Teacher Work Days), Spring Break, Winter Break and Summer
Camps, Kids Corner Club (an after-school program), and tennis activities.
Does the City offer any programs for pre-school age children?
Yes. There is a program at Veterans Park called Kiddie Ko-op.
How about programs for adults?
Some of the activities offered for adults include lap swimming, swim
lessons, Roller Hockey, Softball, Basketball, Fitness Walks, Jazzercise,
Judo, Kendo, Tae Kwon Do, Scrabble, and Yoga.
Does the P.A.L.S. Department offer anything for senior citizens?
Activities for our senior population includes Bowling, Ceramics, Bingo,
Travel trips, seminars, Line Dancing, Chess, Dominos, Duplicate Bridge,
Craft and Sewing classes, and an exercise program.
Where is the Parks and Leisure Services Department (P.A.L.S.) located?
The Administrative office is currently located in City Hall Park on the east
side of the lake. The address is 1900 NW 55th Avenue, and the main number is

Are the pools at Veterans and Wolk Parks open year-round? Are there
annual memberships available?
Yes – the pools are open year-round, and there are several annual
memberships to choose from.
Are the pools heated?
The pools are heated in winter and cooled in the summer to maintain a
temperature of 84 degrees.
Can you cut down the trees in my yard?
If the trees are on private property, the owner must maintain them.
Are you the people who pick up my garbage?
The P.A.L.S. Department does not pick up garbage. You should call Waste
Management at (954) 974-7501.
How do I go about renting a facility, meeting room, or facility in the
City of Lauderhill?
To rent a pavilion or meeting room at Veterans Park, visit the park office
and fill out a Facility Use Permit. For pavilions at City Hall Park, go to
the Administrative office in the park for your permit. For the meeting room
at Lauderhill Sports Park, see staff in the park office. If you wish to rent
a meeting room at the Sadkin Community Center, or a pavilion at Wolk Park,
call Annette Jones-Bunion at 321-2450 to make an appointment to complete a
Facility Use Permit.
