Ray's educational path began in Lauderhill, where he completed his middle school education and commenced high school at Boyd Anderson. Through the Magnet program, he later graduated from Hallandale High School in 1992. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

During his military service, Ray pursued higher education at the University of Maryland, University College in Adelphi, MD, and various online institutions while deployed overseas. His unwavering dedication led to the completion of his Bachelor's Degree. Ray served as an enlisted Soldier, achieving the rank of Sergeant.

Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Ray Martin attended Officer Candidate School, where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. Over the course of eight additional years of active duty, he rose to the rank of Major (O-4) before retiring after 22 plus years of service. His final assignment at the Pentagon involved assisting National Guard deploying units in acquiring essential equipment for the war in Afghanistan.

Upon returning to civilian life, Ray immediately transitioned into a new role of service to his community. He became a member of the VFW in Pembroke Pines, volunteered with Men of Action in Fort Lauderdale, and was appointed to the Lauderhill Housing Authority board by the Mayor. In addition, he took on the role of mentor for fourth-graders at Castle Hill Elementary through the KAPOW organization. Ray also dedicated his time to mentoring Broward County veterans, supporting programs like Impact Broward and the Veterans Court.

Sarai “Ray” Martin embodies the qualities of a true gentleman, advocate, and protector of the people. His commitment to service, both in the military and within the community, reflects his profound dedication to the betterment of society and the protection of fundamental freedoms.

In his own words, Ray Martin encapsulates his unwavering dedication and commitment to service: “They [US Army] asked me if I would be willing to write a check up to and payable with my life in 1992. I said ABSOLUTELY, and 22 plus years later I have the joy of knowing I helped save the lives of children and families, while protecting America's freedoms in two wars.” -Ray Martin
