The Public Information Officer (PIO) is responsible for disseminating information to the public in regards to all aspects of the Fire Department including but not limited to Emergency calls, evacuations, natural disasters and special events.

The main medium for getting information out to the public are the broadcast and print media.

The PIO is generally seen on TV or in the newspaper giving information about an emergency or public service that has or will be occurring in the city. All Fire Department news and information will be released to the media through the PIO.
