The City of Lauderhill’s Commercial Facade Grant (CFG) Program is designed to enhance the State Road 7 corridor, especially in the vicinity of the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, by providing facade grants to businesses and commercial property owners. The City requires improvements be limited to enhancement that are visible from a commercial corridor. The City of Lauderhill will not approve nor pay for a commercial facade or code compliance project which is not attached to and part of a building structure.

The program primary goals are to support local businesses and encourage local entrepreneurship.
Who the Program is For
Eligible Businesses
The Commercial Facade Grant is designed for eligible businesses and commercial property owners located within the State Road 7 Community Redevelopment Agency boundaries, along 31st Avenue, or Broward Blvd within the City of Lauderhill.
Ineligible Businesses
- Any business not legally allowed by the City of Lauderhill Zoning Ordinance and not otherwise approved by the City’s Planning and Zoning Board.
- Any of the following business: Freestanding pawn shops / Freestanding sexually oriented businesses
Program Services
Eligible Improvements
- Exterior building facade improvements consistent with the City’s Design Guidelines.
- Exterior lighting.
- New or renovated signs.
- Awnings.
- Extension of existing facade, as long as the construction cost is no more than 50% of the grant award. The remainder of the grant award must be used for facade improvements on the existing building.
The following improvements or services are also eligible if done in conjunction with one of the above stated eligible expenses:
- Decorative fencing.
- Landscaping.
- Sidewalks on private property.
- Other site improvements, as approved by the DRC
Ineligible Improvements
- New construction, with the exceptions.
- Interior renovations.
- Project improvements commenced prior to the receipt of a signed Grant Agreement with the City. Funds spent before grant approval do not qualify as matching funds and are not eligible for reimbursement.
- Roof replacement or repairs other than facade enhancements.
- Permit fees (including building permit fees) associated with the approved facade improvements.
- Architectural design fees.
The Commercial Facade Grant pays up to $50,000 for single-tenant buildings or $100,000 for multi-tenant buildings on a reimbursement bases for approved projects.
Commercial Facade Grant funding will be provided as a forgivable loan, prorated at twenty percent (20%) per annum for a term of five years (5); after which, the loan will convert to a grant. If improved property is disposed of within five years (5) of award, the outstanding loan balance will be due and payable to the City of Lauderhill.
First time applicants will have priority over previously awarded applicants.

After You Apply
After your application is submitted, it will be sent to the Commercial Facade Grant Committee, at which point you will be contacted by the Economic Development Division and provided further instructions.
