The Commercial Redevelopment Incentive Program is intended to incentivize new commercial development projects in the City of Lauderhill within prioritized and targeted redevelopment areas.
Program Goals
The goal of the Commercial Redevelopment Incentive Program is to attract new and innovative development projects that will bring transformative change, as well as modernization to the City of Lauderhill.
Who the Program is For
Eligible Businesses
Commercial properties citywide that are visible from a commercial corridor including, but not limited to:
- Commercial Boulevard
- University Drive
- State Road 7
- Broward Boulevard or 31st Avenue
Ineligible Businesses
Properties in the City of Lauderhill are not eligible for incentive grant funding support when such funding conflicts with the goals expressed in the City of Lauderhill Comprehensive Plan Economic Development plans.
Program Benefits
The Commercial Redevelopment Incentive Program is an incentive program available to expedite commercial investment/ development throughout the City, with priority offered to projects located in the City’s “Opportunity Zones.”
Eligible Activities
- Exterior Lighting
- Signage
- Awnings
- Paint
- Extension of existing facade
- Decorative and security fencing
- Landscaping
- Sidewalks on private property
- Other exterior site improvements as approved by Commercial Property Improvement Program Review Committee and the City’s Development Review Committee (DRC)
- Interior improvements or repairs
Ineligible Expenses
- Any interior improvements or repairs
- Purchases of equipment, inventory, furnishings, decorations, or supplies (non-fixed improvements)
- Purchase of real property
- Rent, lease or mortgage payments
- HVAC repair and/or replacement
- Security system repair and/or replacement
- Roof repair, replacement, or other roof modifications
- Work not consistent with design guidelines pursuant to zoning and land use regulations
- Sweat equity, business payroll
Program Services
The City of Lauderhill is designated as a Platinum Permitting City and has taken extra steps to help ensure businesses have a first-rate experience when going through the development review/permitting process.
The City of Lauderhill has adopted a streamlined permitting process with an online permit tracking system.
