SUMMARY:

The Lauderhill Police Department in partnership with the Lauderhill Fire Department and the City of Lauderhill’s Parks and Leisure Services, proudly host the first Safety Town program.  Elementary schools in the city have been invited to register up to 60 students per trip to visit “Safety Town”. This is an exciting and fun hands-on, way for children ages 4- 7 years old to receive instructions on a variety of safety topics, while traveling through a miniature town visiting different educational safety stations.

The educational safety stations include; personal safety, stranger danger, plant-canal venomous critters, fire safety and other dangers that children may face in real life situations.  The children will then have an opportunity to ride tricycles and scooters through a miniature driving range to learn about traffic and pedestrian safety. Once completed, all participants receive a Safety Town Certificate from the Chief of Police.

Media outlets are invited to join us on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Veterans Park, 7600 NW 50th Street, Lauderhill, beginning at 9:00 a.m. as we welcome students from Eagles Nest Elementary School attending Lauderhill’s first Safety Town program.

Teaching safety to children at a young age, and reinforcing it as they mature, helps to empower children and adults that safety knowledge stays with them for the rest of their lives.
