OAKLAND PARK BOULEVARD MOBILITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four will conduct two Construction Open Houses regarding the mobility improvements along Oakland Park Boulevard and various roadways adjacent to Oakland Park Boulevard from NW 136th Avenue to North Atlantic Boulevard in the cities of Sunrise, Lauderhill and Fort Lauderdale. The meetings will have an informal open house format beginning at 5:00 p.m. Representatives will be available to provide pertinent information and answer questions. Construction plans will be available for public viewing.
The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is investing over $300 million to create safer, healthier communities in Broward. This project is one of many within a larger plan to create enhanced bicycle, pedestrian and public transportation access throughout the Broward region. The Broward MPO is a federally‐mandated agency that is responsible for making decisions on local transportation issues and deciding how to spend federal funds on transportation projects within Broward. PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS
- Widening the roadway to accommodate new bike lanes
- Adding shared lane pavement markings (sharrows)
- Installing new sidewalks and upgrades to curb ramps
- Installing transit signal priority along Oakland Park Boulevard from NW 136th Avenue to Pine Island Road
- Modifying and relocating drainage structures and regrading swale areas impacted by roadway widening
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
- Lane closures may occur from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Pedestrian detours will be in place during sidewalk closures.
- Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.
