City of Lauderhill Mayor and Commissioners have voted to increase the Low-Income Senior Homestead Exemption up to $50,000. Seniors can qualify if they are 65 years old or older and their adjusted gross income level for the combined household does not exceed $31,100 for 2021. Those who may qualify for the exemption will need to file a Sworn Statement as to Adjusted Gross Income and provide supporting documents by March 1, 2022.
In addition to these requirements, if the senior also resided as a permanent resident in the same house for 25 years or more, and the just value of the home is less than $250,000, they may also qualify for the additional Long-Term Senior Exemption as well as an exemption from the assessed taxable value.
