The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Four will host an in-person Construction Open House and Virtual Public Meeting regarding the transit and lighting improvements along SR 7/US 441, and mobility improvements along SR 858/Hallandale Beach Boulevard in Broward County. The Broward MPO is investing over $300 million to create safer, healthier communities in Broward County and this project is one of many within a larger plan to create enhanced bicycle, pedestrian, and public transportation access. The Broward MPO is a federally-mandated agency responsible for setting policy on local transportation issues and deciding how to spend Federal and State funding on transportation projects in the Broward region. PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS
- Upgrading pedestrian signals with countdown timers and existing lighting to LED along SR 7/US 441 at 23 intersections
- Adding a signalized, pedestrian mid-block crossing at the intersection of SR 7/US 441 and NW 3 Street
- Installing a 7-foot bicycle lane along westbound SR 858/ Hallandale Beach Boulevard
- Widening the roadway to accommodate bicycle lanes along SR 7/US 441 from Southgate Boulevard to Cypress Creek Greenway/C-14 Canal
- Upgrading sidewalks and curb ramps at 23 intersections
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
- Single lane closures along SR 7/US 441 and SR 858/Hallandale Beach Boulevard are permitted weekdays and weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Single lane closures along SR 7/US 441 and SR 858/Hallandale Beach Boulevard are permitted nightly, weekdays and weekends, between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. for only asphalt paving operations.
- Additional information about lane closures and detour information will be provided in the weekly traffic report distributed by FDOT.
