Please join us on Tuesdays at 6pm (except City holidays & Broward School Break Days) for dinner topic talks, leadership activities, planning for events, special guests and more. Are you a student in grades 9-12 interested in working together with other students focusing on Civic Duty, Community Service and Local Government operations? Then join the Lauderhill Youth Council (LYC) and Teen Leader Club (TL) Program….It’s free to join!!
- Who can be a Lauderhill Youth Council Board Member?
- Any Lauderhill Resident student whose application is accepted and meets the minimum board requirements.
- Who can be a Lauderhill Teen Leader Club participant?
- Any student who meets the minimum application requirements and who is excited to work on community service projects and with government and City officials.
- If I am a non-resident student, can I be a Lauderhill Teen Leader?
- Yes!
- If I am a non-resident student, can I be a Lauderhill Youth Council Board Member?
- No, but you can definitely apply to be a TEEN LEADER. Lauderhill Teen Leader student participants work together with LYC members on projects, go on the same field trips, participate in every activity, including LYC Board meetings. The LYC/TL Club participants act as a unit. All-for-one, one for all.

Program Information & Requirements
- Youth Council (LYC) applicants must be Lauderhill Residents.
- Teen Leaders (TL) do not have to be Lauderhill Residents.
- LYC only applicants must have Completed Board Appointment/Re-Appointment Application
- LYC and TL applicants must have Completed Parental Permission, Medical and Liability Waiver Form
- LYC and TL applicants must submit proof of school attendance (School ID, Home school Enrollment Letter, Etc.).
- LYC and TL applicants must submit most recent report card or Pinnacle print out.
Program Activities include:
- Meet the Lauderhill City Commission: Get to discuss City and Government topics with the Mayor, Vice Mayor and Commissioners
- Learn how to run a meeting following Robert's Rules of Order, practice public speaking, learn proper etiquette and develop face-to-face positive and professional social confidence
- Meet City Officials and Department employees to learn about City planning and operations
- Meet local and area professional guest speakers from all types of industries and career fields
- Girl Bee You™ and HRB financial literacy sessions
- Create fundraising events and participate in positive causes for your community
- Community service hours towards High School graduation requirements are given for regular meeting and program participation.
Meetings are every 2nd (LYC Board meeting) and 4th Tuesday of each month except for City holidays and BCPS school break/teacher planning or summer break
Lauderhill Youth Council Board Meetings:
- When: Lauderhill Youth Council Board meetings are every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Meetings start at 6:30pm.
- Where: Lauderhill Historical Museum, 1080 NW 47th Avenue, Lauderhill FL 33313
- NOTE: All board members for public meetings must now appear physically in person (unless there is a physician excused illness which serves as a legitimate basis for their absence). Plexiglass has been installed in chambers and CDC distancing guidelines and protocols are being enforced. We will continue to allow the public to attend electronically via the virtual Zoom platform in an effort to encourage limited gatherings to help protect the public health and safety. The public will not be prohibited from attending in person, however, all CDC guidelines must be followed for anyone attending in person.
- Cost: Free to LYC/TL participants; potential Board members are selected from applications; qualified applicants are appointed by the Lauderhill City Commission.
